1. ABRAHAM’S OBEDIENCE TO SACRIFICE ISAAC

When Abraham was 99 years old, God promised him and his wife Rebekah, then 89, a son.

A year later God’s promise came to pass when 99 year old Rebekah bore their son Isaac!

When Issac grew to be a young boy, God
tested Abraham’s Faith by telling him to take his only son and offer him as a burnt sacrifice.

Though filled with sadness and grief, Abraham obeyed God’s words and
took Isaac to the mountain.

Abraham had complete faith that God would provide a way out and that he would not lose his only son.

At the moment Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac, God sent an angel to stop him and said

“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” hesaid.“Do not do anything to him. Now

I know that you fear God, because you
have not withheld from me your son,
your only son.”

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket, he saw a ram caught by its horns.

He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

There, Abraham built an altar and named the place Jehovah-Jireh which means “the Lord provides”.

2. NOAH’S OBEDIENCE TO GOD

Examples of obedience in the bible
Another example of obedience in the Bible is the story of Noah.
God told Noah that He would send a flood upon the earth so he was to build an ark and follow the exact specifications God gave him.

He was then to take his family and pairs of animals into this ark, and God Himself shut them in the ark.

The Bible tells us in Genesis 6:22:

Thus did Noah; according to all that
God commanded him, so did he.

3. PAUL OBEDIENCE TO HEAVENLY VISION
Another great example of obedience in the Bible is the story of paul who was known as Saul before the conversion.

Paul was a religious man, a proud Pharisee, who was proud of his Jewish background, proud in the membership of the people of God

Paul was journeying to Damascus to persecute the Christians. Then came the shattering experience on the way. He heard a voice saying, “Saul, Saul, why
do you persecute me?” Paul asked, “Tell me Lord, who are you?” “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting”
After this experience, His belief that God’s dealing with his creation was the Jewish nation died.

And from then on, he walked in the way of the lord.

4. DANIEL REFUSES TO DEFILE HIMSELF WITH THE KING MEAL.
Daniel and his friends were determined to obey the word of God, despite pressure from the Babylonian government to eat from the king’s portion.

Daniel had the wisdom to deal with the problem, gaining the friendship and trust of the officials concerned, so that he and his friends were granted permission to eat simple food, rather that the rich food from the king’s table which was forbidden by the Law of Moses.

In Daniel 1:8, But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

5. MOSES REMOVES HIS SHOES AT THE BURNING BUSH.
