Jesus said I am the Light of the World when he came to earth, to fulfil his divine purpose, to change the darkness that dominated the people of Israel for the resplendent light that comes from heaven.

In this way, Jesus came to earth to show that light, the same light with which the darkness was separated at the beginning of creation.

3 Approaching the Light of the World: Jesus

I am the light of the world

When Jesus came to earth, he came with a divine purpose, which was to dislodge the darkness that had taken over the earth.

“I am the light of the world; Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).

In that sense, we understand that the prince of this world is satan, as the Word says.

Through Jesus and his sacrifice, he came to publicly exhibit on the cross all the powers that he had taken over the souls of people.

“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13-14)

    The Light clears the Darkness

I am the light of the world, so Jesus said, indicating that through Him he had to dislodge all the darkness that had taken hearts.

That is why the Bible teaches in many verses those analogies with respect to that light to which Jesus referred.

“In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it” (John 1:4-5)

“That true light, which illuminates every human being, came into this world.

He who was the light was already in the world, and the world was created through him, but the world did not recognize him.” (John 1:9-10)

    The light shines

These verses written by the apostle John reveal that being a disciple he could see that through Jesus that light shone.

That is why he came to earth as chosen by God to bring freedom to the world , but the world rejected him.

However, being the light, it could not be hidden and it stripped away the darkness from everyone who approached Him through the miracles, healings and deliverances that He did in His walk on earth.

Jesus was the Light of the World

Jesus was the Light of the World

It can be said that Jesus was the light but not just any kind of light, not the one seen in nature or the one that has the character that humanity knows.

Jesus was a type of absolute light because he had the essence of bringing freedom to everyone who was in darkness, that’s why he said “I am the light of the world”.

It is important to understand that when Jesus said “I am the light of the world” he not only indicated that the divine presence of God was through him, but he culminated this phrase by saying

“Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”

To be freed from darkness by light

With this, it establishes that the paths would be illuminated with the truth so as not to stumble, and to be an entity of blessing in people, to live under the coverage of God.

“For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light

(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and proving what is pleasing to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:8-10)

In this way, people know that light of Jesus comes to remove the veil from people so that they can understand what is pleasing before God.

It is to be able to respect his mandate to read the word, pray, fast, and bless the one who needs that legacy of the light of Jesus.

Approaching the Light of the World: Jesus

The Bible indicates that people who are in darkness, their life is full of sin and their state is sad and evil.

They are those who were like the living dead who need to be freed from the chains of oppression that satan has wrapped around them.

And even in this time, many people do not follow Jesus to receive freedom through his admirable light.

“For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come near it for fear that their deeds will be revealed” (John 3:20)

    Leave sin for the light

In this way, man does not want to leave sin behind because he knows that in the midst of the light he will be exposed, and in this way keep his lifestyle away from the light.

That is why the Bible says that everyone who does not accept Jesus lives in condemnation by not letting the light of the world set him free.

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).

The Light brings freedom from darkness

That is why everyone who is close to Jesus can receive that freedom that delivers his resplendent light.

In this way, the Bible makes reference that when receiving Jesus in his life, things begin to be seen in the correct way, because he brings freedom to hearts, and he can discern spiritual things.

“But the natural man does not perceive the things that are of the Spirit of God, because to him they are foolishness, and cannot understand them, because they must be spiritually discerned” (1 Cor. 2:14).

    light illuminates the way

That is why at the moment of receiving Jesus in life that light comes to illuminate the way and make that light as the word says in Psalms 119

“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path” (Psalms 119:105)

In this way, everyone who understands and accepts the call of Jesus will receive freedom from sins.

It is being able to be  freed from the chains that had oppressed him, and he will take him out of the darkness fulfilling what he said he would

“I am the light of the world; Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).

And his life will be transformed so that the blessing that God has promised to all those who serve him with their hearts will accompany him.

And that way you can receive that promise of abundance, prosperity, and health, and have that life where the light of Jesus illuminates everything around you.
