The Grace of God, what is it exactly?

What does bible say about the grace of God, what exactly is grace?

We often hear the word “grace” or “grace of God” in the sermons given in the church or through the Christian broadcast media. Christians also use it to present greetings to each other: “Grace be with you!” “Grace to you and peace from God!”

But what consists of this divine grace mentioned more than a hundred times in the Bible?

Imagine someone who has committed a serious fault, a premeditated murder, for example.

That person should effectively face life imprisonment or some other maximum penalty commensurate with their act: immediate execution.

But the court president, pitying him, decided to release him gracefully and offer his son to take the place of this condemned man. So this condemned man has obtained mercy: he has obtained grace. He deserves the punishment, but he is released. It’s really miraculous.

God’s grace to us presents itself in the same way. We are all beings condemned to die because of sin. “For the wages of sin is death  .” (Romans 6:23 a KJV).

The sentence that we frequently hear among many of us is: I do not commit more sins than others, I have not killed anyone, I am not a liar, I am not drunk, I am not debauched, ….and the list is long. Yet the Bible says explicitly that:

“Whoever becomes angry without cause against his brother will be punishable by judgment; and whoever tells his brother, Racha, shall be punishable by the council; and whoever tells him, mad, will be punished by hellfire. (Matthew 5: MAR 22)

“Whoever looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew 5:28 KJV)

In the light of this Word, no one can claim to remain flawless before the judgment of God. However, all who believe in salvation through the atoning work of Jesus Christ are set free.

We obtain the Grace of God by the simple fact of believing in it sincerely and with all our hearts.

The Holy Spirit convinces us that all this contributes to our good, that is to say to our spiritual development, and encourages us to glorify God in all circumstances.

Nothing happens to us anymore by chance or without apparent meaning. And most importantly, grace assures us of glorious eternal life once we leave this earth.

Our reason for living and our final destination will then all be determined. Hallelujah! This grace does not consist only in receiving God’s forgiveness.

It also gives us a deep peace in the heart, which helps us to go through the rest of our life with confidence, no matter what.

From now on, the whole of our life represents the multiplication of grace in us, that is to say, all that God puts in our path: successes, failures, acquisition, loss, responsibility, mission, joy, pain, health, disease, etc.,

Who decide the books to included in the Bible?

“The free gift of God is eternal life .”(Romans 6:23b KJV).

It is nevertheless appropriate to insist on this gratuitousness of the grace of God. In short, “grace” means “you don’t deserve it, but you got it anyway .”So be very careful that you don’t strive to practice a whole lot of religious rituals and personal initiatives to gain some merit in the eyes of God.

We work for God because we are saved, and never the other way around. No carnal effort of man will be able to help him to conquer salvation, however faithful he believes himself to be. It is earned salvation that produces good works.

“For by grace you are saved, through faith. And it’s not from you, it’s God’s gift. Not by works, lest any man boast. For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared beforehand, that we should do them”. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

May grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord! (2 Peter 1:2 KJV).

    Amen.
