Thoughts of good and not of evil. Jeremiah 29:11explanation

Spread the love

All human beings reflect what we carry inside us, therefore, it is essential that we have thoughts of good and not of evil. All the things (good and bad) that happen are the product of what was on someone’s mind before.

For example, if a person is going to murder, first think about the weapon to be used, where the victim will be caught, and how the body will disappear after the act. After mentally planning, materialize the crime.

What I mean by this is that if we think of good things, we will do good things, but if our ideas are vile, we will demonstrate it with our actions.

It is necessary that our mind remains pure in the eyes of God, let’s see what the bible says about how thoughts influence our life.

We must have thoughts of good and not of evil

The life of man works in the following way. It all starts with your thoughts, which make you generate decisions, which have the effect of actions that lead you to have certain results. How to generate good results? Have good thoughts. In other words, bad thoughts generate bad results. Proverbs 23: 6 says:

“Because as his thought is in his heart, so is he.”

There is a very famous phrase that says “ we are what we think ”. It is a fairly accurate expression, for this reason, we must have thoughts of good and not evil. What kinds of thoughts dominate you? What is the quality of your thoughts? Do you have good or bad thoughts? How long do those thoughts last? What do you think of God? What do you think God thinks of you?

God loves us, but He will not do what you have to do. You have to do what is in your power so that God does what is not available to you. You do what you can so that God does what you cannot.

The Lord has always told us what to do, what is good for us, and what He will do if we do what He says. But he has always left the task to us to do. Deuteronomy 28: 1-2 says:

“It will come to pass that if you listen attentively to the voice of Jehovah your God, to keep and carry out all the commandments that I am prescribing you today, Jehovah your God will also exalt you above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings will come upon you, and overtake you, if you will hear the voice of Jehovah your God. “

God wants to bless us

If there is a reality in our hearts, it is that we long for God’s blessings. We know that we will receive them as we seek their presence. The blessings will come in addition to seeking His presence.

However, we should not look to the blessings but to the God who produces them. Something we have learned is that God longs to bless us even more than we long for, but he requires us to have thoughts of good and not evil. Jeremiah 29:11 says:

“For I know the thoughts that I have about you, says Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you the end you hope for.”

Other versions say:

“Thoughts of good and not bad, to give them a future full of well-being.”

God has only good thoughts for you, only good thoughts. The Lord only thinks that this year will go well for you, that you will receive that blessing soon and that you will come out of that affliction strengthened, that you will solve that problem and learn to teach others.

God only thinks about the door that will open for you, if one is closed to you. There are no evil thoughts in Him for you.  Isaiah 55: 8-9 says:

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts more than your thoughts ”.

Bringing together the teachings of these two verses: God tells us that his thoughts about us are good and that they are higher than ours. The word more is comparative. If I say: this boy is taller than me, to know how tall the boy is, you need to know how tall I am.

What I’m trying to teach you is that the starting point of God’s thoughts for your life is your own. God always thinks highly of you, but how well He thinks of you depends on what you are constantly thinking about yourself.

He will do more than you ask or expect

If we are made in the image and likeness of God, it means that God always thinks things through before doing them. And since he always thinks well, at all times he does them well. In Genesis 1:31 we find the following word:

“And God saw all that he had made, and behold, it was very good”

There are more than 7,000 promises in the Bible, many of them you have not received yet, but God has already thought about giving them to you, can I explain? God, like us, first thinks of something, decides it, does it, and looks at the results. Your thoughts will move God greatly.

Ephesians 3:20 says:

“He who is powerful to make all things much more abundant than what we ask or understand, according to the power that acts in us.”

Another version says:

God is going to move as long as you have good thoughts about yourself.

Persevere in your thoughts

It is not about thinking one-day good and six bad, or a while good and 23 hours a day bad, or sometimes good and sometimes bad. The Bible says that we must persevere in the thoughts we have about God. Isaiah 26: 3 says the following:

You will keep in complete peace the one whose thoughts of you persevere; because in you he has trusted.

The only way to live in peace is to persevere in the thoughts of God, and that is only achieved by trusting Him. Keep thoughts of good and not of evil with reference to yourself. And also, for your complete trust in God. In Proverbs 16: 3  we can find the following:

“Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.”

You have to put everything in God’s hands. If you trust Him, He will make your thoughts assert. That means your thoughts will be good.

Discern your thoughts with the word

Hebrews 4:12 tells us:

“For the word of God is alive and effective, and sharper than any two-edged sword; and penetrates the soul and the spirit, the joints and the marrow, and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart ”.

To discern is to distinguish. The word of God is what can help you to distinguish the good thoughts from the bad, to realize the good and the bad thoughts. If you constantly have bad thoughts, reading the word will make you discern them correctly as God teaches youPhilippians 4: 8 says the following:

“For the rest, brothers, all that is true, all that is honest, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is kind, all that is of good name; if there is any virtue, if something worthy of praise, think of this ”.

You must have thoughts of good and not of evil. Think well of people, what you are going through, what is coming, think well of yourself and those around you. This is exactly what God wants you to do.

Learn to think well

Psalm 1: 1-3 says:

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor in the way of sinners, nor sits in the chair of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, And on his law he meditates day and night. It will be like a tree planted by streams of water, That yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not fall; And whatever he does shall prosper”.

When you ask someone for advice, you are asking them to intervene in your thoughts. You must take care of who you associate with and meditate day and night. Meditation is thinking about something in such a way that it absorbs all our thinking until we come to imagine that we are living it.

To meditate is to imagine something that absorbs us so much that we come to feel that we are already living it. To have good thoughts about yourself, you must meditate on the word of God. If you do, everything you do will prosper.

Final thoughts

God exhorts us to have thoughts of good and not of evil so that we are blessed in a great way because even if we do not believe it, we are what we think and we project what we have in our heart and in our mind.

When we materialize something, it is because we have already thought about it, therefore, we must take care of what we keep inside so that it does not affect our outer self and the relationship we have with our Creator.
