8 Obedience bible study lesson
1. Jesus gave himself for love.
“Your attitude should be like that of Christ Jesus,
Who, being by nature God, did not regard equality with God as something to cling to.”
The greatest example of obedience is found with our Lord Jesus Christ, who, being God, decided to give himself up, to be tortured, and to have the vilest cruel and even cursed death according to the scriptures, to give us eternal life and free us from sin.
In addition to this, the sacred scriptures place Christ as an example to follow, he did not want to go through that cup, and yet he did it for us, therefore, we must be obedient to God, because just as Jesus was has given a name above all names, there is a principle of Spiritual Authority linked to Obedience that applies to our lives when we decide to obey God.
2. Noah obeyed without even understanding.
“By faith Noah, warned of things not yet seen, With awe built an ark to save his family.
By that faith he condemned the world and became heir to the righteousness that comes through faith.”Hebrews 11.7
Noah obeyed with reverent fear, even though he had never seen it rain on the earth and he understood that God would do it, so he spent part of his life building and preaching, and at the established time, God kept his promise and Noah managed to save his life. and the life of his family, which should make us understand that Obedience to God always brings Blessing.
Many people say that Christians are crazy because they have not seen Christ and do not believe that he will return to fulfill the scripture, however, with reverent fear we live according to the Word of God without fainting, knowing that God is not a man that lies and that heaven and earth will pass away but not your words.
3. Abraham left without knowing his direction.
By faith Abraham, when he was called to go to a place that he would later receive as an inheritance, obeyed and left without knowing where he was going
Hebrews 11:8
How would your wife or your husband be, if one fine day you tell him, we’re leaving? And when they ask you where?, and you answer – I don’t know, towards the horizon because God has told me -.
Possibly, you end up alone, however, this did not happen to Abraham, since immediately after God spoke to him, he undertook his journey to the land that God promised him and his descendants. Being old and childless he believed in God and he obeyed.
Sometimes we know what we should do and we don’t do it, disobeying God and His Word, and other times we don’t understand or fail to see God’s purpose and we stop, but we must be like Abraham and like each of these 8 Examples of obedience in the Bible, believing God, obeying and thus moving towards his purpose.
4. Gideon obeyed despite his feeling of inferiority.
“ The LORD faced him and said,
“Go with the strength you have, and you will save Israel from the power of Midian. I am the one who sent you.
Judges 6.14
When God called Gideon, he told him that he could not free his people because he was the lowest of all, but God himself told him to go, and he decided to believe God and be obedient, so he acted despite his feelings.
Obedience brings blessing, only when we truly believe in God and are obedient, will we be able to understand the purpose in our lives and we will be able to make it a reality.
We must also understand that there are different types of obedience according to the Bible, but as far as God is concerned, obedience will always bring Blessing and wisdom to our lives.

5. The fishermen were obedient and God made them Apostles.
While walking along the Sea of Galilee, Jesus saw two brothers: One was Simon, called Peter, and the other Andrew. They were casting the net into the lake, as they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus told them, “and I will make you fishers of men.” Instantly they left their nets and followed him.
For most who read the gospels, it is very normal to see that Jesus was passing by and called three brothers who left what they were doing to follow him. But the truth is that in our daily activities Jesus comes to the door again and again.
God has a Purpose and a Call for each of us, the question is, are we like the apostles? We manage to recognize Jesus in the daily life of our routines, we really identify him and follow him so that he makes us fishers of men, or we continue in our routines far from him and from the great commission.
Obedience to God implies being able to listen to his voice, know him and recognize him in every area of our lives, and always decide to follow him, we can be like any of these Obedience Bible Study for youth because the call we have received from God is the same.
6. Ruth was obedient to her mother-in-law:
“One day Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi said to her, “My daughter, I must find a home for you, where you will be well provided for. Now Boaz, with whose women you have worked, is a relative of ours. Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor. Wash, put on perfume, and get dressed in your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don’t let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking. When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do. I will do whatever you say,” Ruth answered.
There are several ways to obey God and that includes being obedient to our parents and authorities.
Ruth was not the daughter of Nohemí, she was her daughter-in-law, wife of her deceased son, however, she decided to follow Nohemí and obey her because she was her family, and because she understood that the God of Nohemí was the God of gods, her faith made her worthy of belonging to this group of 8 Examples of obedience in the Bible.
Is there really obedience in me?
Now, it is easy to read it, but it would be just as easy to live it, we would really be willing to show our obedience to our authorities (within the church for example), even when we do not understand what is behind it. Put yourself in Ruth’s place and think about it.
But even better, the biggest challenge is to put ourselves in Nohemí’s place and see if we really are that mirror that reflects the glory of God to the point that we can convert and convince those around us, just as Nohemi managed to impact with her life. to Ruth.
7. Jonah had a hard time, but he was obedient.
“The word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: “Go, go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to him the message that I am going to give you.” Jonah went to Nineveh according to the command of the LORD.”
Jonah 3:1-3
If there is a picturesque story of what would happen to us if we decided to openly take the path contrary to God’s designs, it is the story of Noah.
Obviously, it is easy to judge his reasons and grudges towards the people of Nineveh, so much so that he determined not to fulfill his purpose and God had to send a storm on the high seas and a fish to make him reflect.
However, how many times do we put our personal issues before the will of God, how many times a day do we decide to continue with our grudges, with our plans, and even consent to our reactions, actions, decisions, and tastes, even knowing that they go against the Word of God.
Let us reflect and ask God to scrutinize our hearts and help us improve without the need for a tortuous storm on the high seas of our lives or a giant fish to bury us.
8. Anna brought her Son to the altar in obedience.
“and she said to him, “Pardon me, my lord. As surely as you live, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the Lord. 27 I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.”
1Samuel 1:26-27 NIV
Ana’s story is impressive because she prayed to God in her desperation and offered him a pact if God allowed her to get out of her affliction, and seeing that God answered her cry, at the indicated time Ana fulfilled her promise to God and he brought his own son Samuel to be dedicated to the temple service.
This action of Ana brought a great blessing to her life because she was able to have more children, and also had an impact on Samuel’s life, because he knew God from his childhood and became one of the greatest prophets of the people of Israel.
Now it sounds simple, but really you would take your newly weaned son (approximately three years old according to your customs) to the temple and leave him there, your obedience reaches that point.
Our obedience is the way to God’s purpose.
Anna’s conviction and her obedience had a great impact, even after her action, however, what would have happened if Ana did not keep her promise and was not obedient.
Deciding to obey or not obey God undoubtedly changes the course of our lives and our nation, we must understand that God’s purpose in our lives is always bigger and higher.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9
On the other hand, let us never be reckless in offering God something that we cannot fulfill as expressed by the preacher in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 5 from verses 1-7, which we invite you to look for in your Bible, either physical or digital and remember these 8 examples of obedience in the bible are the direction to our blessing.
