You can put your trust in God. Many of you are going through the most trying times of your lives, but I want you to know that you can put your faith in God. I’m not a motivating speaker by any stretch of the imagination. I’m not attempting to express things that all Christians might say. I’m not telling you something I haven’t personally experienced. Many times in my life, I’ve had to put my faith in God.

I’ve been in the midst of ablaze. I’m well aware of the situation. You can put your faith in Him. He is dependable. I want you to know that I’ve been laid off previously if you’re going through a job loss.

If you are having financial difficulties, I want you to know that there was a moment in my Christian life when I had nothing but Christ. I want you to know that if you’ve lost a loved one, I’ve also lost a loved one.

If you’ve ever been dissatisfied, know that I’ve failed, made mistakes, and been disappointed on several occasions. If you’re suffering from a broken heart, please know that I understand how you feel. I’ve been in circumstances when my name has been slandered, and I know how painful it is. I’ve been through a lot, but God has been faithful in every scenario.

There has never been a time when God didn’t provide for me. Never! I’ve seen God move, even if it took a while in certain cases. He was forming faith in me unlike any other. Throughout my numerous trials, He has been at work in me. Why do we doubt the power of the living God so much? Why? Even when life appears to be unpredictable, God is always aware of what is going on, and we can trust Him to get us through. Rather of relying on our comprehension of what is going on around us, God tells us to trust Him with all of our hearts. He reveals to us the pathways to pursue when we trust Him and seek His will in whatever we do.

God is with you always, even in the worst of times. His presence is with you, protecting you and working for you. He has empowered you with everything you need to face those difficulties confronting you. You have the power of His Holy Spirit and the spiritual weapons you need to stand firm against the devil’s strategies (Ephesians 6:10-18).

When you feel helpless and don’t know what to do next, follow His commands in the Bible, follow His Holy Spirit’s leading, and trust Him to work everything out for your good. How to trust God when bad things happen?

The Bible says that when we fear God and delight in obeying His commands, light shines in the darkness for us. We will not be shaken; we will not fall. We do not need to fear bad news, because we confidently trust God to care for us. We can fearlessly face any adversities in triumph. (Psalm 112:1, 4, 6-8)

How do we trust God when bad things happen? By focusing on God’s character, power, and love – rather than being absorbed with the negative circumstances coming against us. Nothing can separate us from God’s love! (Romans 8:38) If God is for us, what can be against us? (Romans 8:31)

This website was built on trusting God.

Some websites are watered down, they add no commentary, and there is a lot of false things being preached online. God led me to make a website for His glory. I was working on the first website for a few months. I was doing everything in the flesh. I would rarely pray. I was doing everything on my own strength. The website was slowly growing, but then it totally flopped. I was working on it for a few more months, but it never recovered. I had to trash it.

I was so disappointed. “God I thought this was your will.” In my tears I would cry out and pray. Then, the next day I would cry out and pray. Then, one day God gave me a word. I was wrestling with God by my bedside and I said, “please Lord let me not be put to shame.” I remember it like it was yesterday. When I was done praying I saw the answer to my prayers in front of me on the computer screen.

I never looked up any verses about shame. I don’t know how it got there, but when I looked at my computer screen I saw Isaiah 54 “do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.” I just prayed for it and the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was a comforting message from the Lord. This was no coincidence. Don’t feel shame for something that glorifies God. Hold on to God’s promises even if it is not going as planned at the moment.

Trust in God’s will for your life

If God has told you to pray about something, then pray about it. You can put your faith in Him.

What God was doing when He rejected my initial website was working.

He was building experience, He was building me, He was building my prayer life, He was educating me, He was showing me that I am nothing without Him and that I can do nothing without Him.

He wanted me to pray while wrestling. During this time, I had both major and minor hardships that put my faith to the test.

Months later God would lead me to start a new site and He led me to the name Bible Reasons. This time I felt transformed in my prayer life and in my theology. This time I knew God intimately. I wasn’t just writing about something I haven’t been through. I’ve actually been through it so I can write about it.

One of my first articles was reasons why God allows trials. At the time I was going through a small trial. God has been faithful through it. I literally watched God make a way and lead me into different directions to reach my destination.

Trusting God with finances verses

Trusting God with our finances is a challenge when we’re wondering how we’re going to pay all the bills and save up enough to prepare for the unexpected. Jesus said not to worry about having enough food to eat or clothes to wear. He said God takes care of the lilies and the ravens, and God will take care of us. Jesus said to seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and the Father will give you everything you need. (Luke 12:22-31)

When we trust God with our finances, His Holy Spirit will guide us toward wise choices regarding our jobs, our investments, our spending, and our saving. Trusting God with our finances allows us to see Him work in ways we would have never imagined. Trusting God with our finances means spending regular time in prayer, seeking God’s blessings over our endeavors and His wisdom to guide us as we steward what He has given us. It also means realizing it isn’t our money, but God’s money!

We can be generous to the needy without depleting our finances. “One who is gracious to a poor person lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his good deed.” (Proverbs 19:17; also see Luke 6:38)

God blesses us when we tithe 10% of our income to God. God says to test Him in this! He promises to “open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” (Malachi 3:10). You can trust God with your future and your finances.

Trusting God when Satan attacks

I would become exhausted during my difficulties. “It was only a coincidence,” Satan says after that.

“You aren’t progressing. You’ve been stuck in the same spot for months. You aren’t quite holy enough. God doesn’t care about you since you’re a hypocrite. You sabotaged God’s plan.” God was aware that I was under spiritual attack and would encourage me on a daily basis. One day, He drew my attention to Job 42:2, which says, “No purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Then God placed Luke 1:37 in the NIV on my heart: “For no word from God will ever fail.”

By faith I believed these words were for me. God was telling me there is no plan B you’re still in plan A. There is nothing that you can do to hinder God’s plan.

No plan of God can be stopped. I would constantly keep on seeing 1:37 or 137 everywhere I went or everywhere I turned as a reminder that God is going to be faithful. Hold on! You can trust God. I won’t boast in self or in a ministry because I am nothing and anything I do is nothing without God.

I will say that God’s name is being gloried. God has been faithful. God made a way. God gets all the glory. It took a while in my impatient standards, but God never broke His promise to me. Sometimes when I look back at the journey throughout the years all I can say is, “wow! My God is glorious!” Don’t listen to Satan.

Trusting God for restoration

God can restore whatever is upsetting you or what you have lost.

I was fired from a job that I despised, yet God provided me with one that I adore. I lost one thing, but I gained an even greater blessing as a result of it. God is capable of providing you with a double as much as you have lost. I’m not teaching a version of the prosperity gospel that isn’t true.

I’m not suggesting that God wishes to bless you with wealth, a large house, or good health. God, on the other hand, frequently blesses individuals with more than they require and restores them. Thank God for these blessings. People are financially blessed by God.

God does heal people physically. God does fix marriages. Many times God gives more than what is expected. God is able! We must never forget though it is by His mercy and His grace. We deserve nothing and everything is for His glory.

What does it mean to trust God with all your heart?

Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

When we put our complete trust in God, we can confidently and openly rely on His knowledge, goodness, and strength. We have faith in His promises and His love for us. In every situation, we rely on God’s guidance and assistance. We confide in him our deepest thoughts and fears, knowing that He is trustworthy.

Don’t rely on your own knowledge.

During difficult circumstances, Satan will try to confuse and seduce you. Stop trying to find out why and put your faith in God instead. Instead of listening to all those whispers in your thoughts, rely on the Lord.

Look at Proverbs 3:5-7. This verse says to trust in the Lord with all your heart. It doesn’t say to trust in yourself. It doesn’t say try to figure everything out.

In whatever you do, acknowledge God. Recognize Him in your prayers and in all aspects of your life, and God will faithfully guide you in the correct direction. Verse 7 is one of my favourites. Turn away from evil and fear God. When you stop trusting God and rely on your own intellect, you begin to make poor decisions. If you’re in a financial bind, for example, rather than putting your faith in God, you cheat on your taxes.

You take matters into your own hands and seek an unbeliever because God hasn’t blessed you with a mate yet. This is a time to put your faith in God. Victory does not come through doing things in this world. It comes from putting one’s faith in the Lord.

What does it mean to “trust God and do good?”

Psalm 37:3 says, “Trust in the LORD and do good; Live in the land and cultivate faithfulness.”

Psalm 37 is a comparison between what happens to evil people who put their reliance in themselves against what happens to those who put their trust in God and do good – who obey Him.

Sinful people who do not trust God wither away like grass or spring blossoms. You’ll seek for them soon, and they’ll be gone; even if they appear to be prospering, they’ll vanish like smoke. They will be defeated by the weapons they employ to subjugate others.

Those who believe in God and do good, on the other hand, will live in safety, serenity, and prosperity. God will provide them with their heart’s aspirations, as well as provide assistance and care for them. God will guide their steps, rejoice in every element of their existence, and hold their hands to keep them from falling. In times of adversity, God comes to their rescue and serves as their bulwark.

Bible verses about trusting God’s plans

Jesus challenged us to look at the birds, who don’t grow their own food or store it away – God feeds them! We are so much more valuable to God than birds and worrying doesn’t add a single hour to our life (Matthew 6:26-27) God cares deeply for the animals and plants He created, but He cares for you infinitely more. He will provide what you need, so you can trust in His plan regarding the details of your life.

Sometimes we make our plans without consulting God. James 4:13-16 reminds us we have no idea what tomorrow holds (as we probably all learned during the pandemic). What we ought to say is, “If the Lord wills, we will do this or that.”  Making plans is a good thing, but God should be consulted – spend time with Him asking His guidance before you start an endeavor and consult Him every step of the way. When we commit our work to God and acknowledge Him, He gives us the right plan and shows us the right direction to go (see Proverbs 16:3 and 3:6 above).

Some people wonder why are they in difficult situations and going through hard time.

“Where is God?” God is here, but you need experience. If I have a problem I’m not going to want to go to someone who has never been through what I’ve been through. I’m going to someone who has actually lived it. I’m going to someone with experience. You can trust God. Nothing that you go through is meaningless. It is doing something.

90. 2 Corinthians 1:4-5 “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.”

91. Hebrews 5:8 “Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.”

You can trust God with your life

Many people have said that, “God has abandoned me.”

He never abandoned you. No, you have given up! Just because you are going through hard times does not mean that He has abandoned you. That doesn’t mean that He doesn’t hear you. Sometimes you have to wrestle with God for 5 years.

There are some prayers that I had to wrestle with God for 3 years before He answered. You have to fight in prayer. It is not God who quits. It is us who quit and give up. Sometimes God answers in 2 days. Sometimes God answers in 2 years.

Some of you have been praying for that one unsaved family member for 10 years. Continue to wrestle! He is faithful. Nothing is impossible for Him. “I will not let you go until you answer me!” We need to be like Jacob and wrestle with God until we die. Blessed are those who wait on the Lord.

92. Genesis 32:26-29 “Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” The man asked him, “What is your name?” “Jacob,” he answered. Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.” But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.”

93. Psalm 9:10 “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.”

94. Psalm 27:13-14 “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”

Trust God’s timing Bible verses

David was a shepherd boy anointed by the prophet Samuel to be king. But it took many years for the crown to rest on his head – years spent hiding out in caves from King Saul. David must have felt frustrated, and yet he said:

“But as for me, I trust in You, LORD, I say, ‘You are my God.’ My times are in Your hand.” (Psalm 31:14)

David had to learn to put his times in God’s hands. Sometimes, waiting on God might seem like an exceedingly long, desperate delay, but God’s timing is perfect. He knows things we don’t know; He knows what’s going on behind the scenes, in the spiritual realms. Unlike us, He knows the future. Thus, we can trust His timing. We can say to God, “My times are in Your hand.”

98. Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hurries toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it delays, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay long.”

99. Psalm 27:14 “Don’t be impatient. Wait for the Lord, and he will come and save you! Be brave, stouthearted, and courageous. Yes, wait and he will help you.”

100. Lamentations 3:25-26 “The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. 26 So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”

101. Jeremiah 29:11-12 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

The sin that grieves God’s heart the most is doubt.

Some of you believe that God will answer, but because of Satan and sin there is a little unbelief and that is OK. Sometimes I have to pray, “Lord I believe, but help my unbelief.”

104. Mark 9:23-24 “And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

Psalms about trusting God

Psalm 27 is a beautiful psalm written by David, probably when he was hiding from King Saul’s army. David trusted in God’s protection, saying, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; whom should I dread?” (vs. 1)  “If an army encamps against me, my heart will not fear. If war arises against me, in spite of this I am confident.” (v. 3) David said, “On the day of trouble He will conceal me . . . He will hide me in the secret place.” (v. 5) “Wait for the LORD; be strong and let your heart take courage.” (v. 14)

Psalm 31 is another of David’s psalms most likely written while escaping Saul. David asks God to “Be a rock of strength for me, a stronghold to save me. (v. 2) “For the sake of Your name You will lead me and guide me. You will pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me.” (vs. 3-4) “I trust in the LORD. I will rejoice and be glad in Your faithfulness.” (vs. 6-7) David pours out all his troubles and agonized feelings to God in verse 9-13, and then says, “How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have performed for those who take refuge in You.” (v. 19)

David wrote Psalm 55 in heartbreak over a close friend’s treachery. “As for me, I shall call upon God, and the LORD will save me. Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and moan, and He will hear my voice.” (vs. 16-17) “Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.” (v. 22)

109. Psalm 18:18-19 “They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the Lord was my support. 19 He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.”

Scriptures on faith and trusting God

Faith leads to trust. When we develop our faith in God – fully believing that He is able – then we can relax and trust Him; we can rely on Him to work all things together for our good.  Trusting God is choosing to have faith in what He says. In our unpredictable and uncertain lives, we have a firm foundation in God’s unchanging character. Trusting God does not mean ignoring reality. It is living a life of faith in God’s promises rather than being driven by emotion. Instead of looking for security in other people or things, we find our security in trusting God through our faith that God loves us, God is fighting for us, and He is always with us.

131. 2 Chronicles 20:20 “They rose early in the morning and went out to the wilderness of Tekoa; and when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: Put your trust in the Lord your God and you will endure. God knows what He’s doing

Just recently my prayers got answered to something I have been coming to God about for a long time.

I thought to myself what a victory, but then I stumbled upon a roadblock. It was no coincidence. Why would this happen when my prayers just got answered? God told me to trust Him and He brought me to John 13:7, “you don’t realize now, but you will understand later.”

God brought me to a verse that had the numbers 137 just like in Luke 1:37. A few weeks later God gave me an even greater blessing within my trial. I realized I was going in the wrong direction. God put the roadblock so I would take a different route. If He didn’t put the roadblock I would have remained on the same path and I wouldn’t have made the necessary turns.

Once again this recently happened and this is one of the greatest victories in my life. Sometimes things you go through now are leading you to a future blessing. My trial was a true blessing in disguise. Glory to God! Allow God to work out your situation. One of the greatest blessings is to see firsthand how God works everything together. Enjoy your trial. Don’t waste it.

Trust in Christ’s righteousness

Hold on to the righteousness of Christ. Don’t seek to make your own.

Don’t think God has not made a way because you are not godly enough. We all have done that. It’s because I’m struggling in this area, it’s because I am struggling with these desires. No. Be still and trust in the Lord. Allow Him to calm the storm in your heart and just trust. God is in control. Stop doubting God’s great love for you.

143. Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

144. Romans 9:32 “Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law instead of by trusting in him. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.”

Put your trust in God’s providential care

This is important. God says, “you can trust Me I promise to provide, but you must seek Me first above all.”

This is a promise for those who have a passion for the Lord and His Kingdom. This is a promise for those who seek to glorify God above all. This is a promise for those who struggle with such a thing. This is a promise for those who are going to wrestle with God no matter what it takes.

This is not a promise for those who want to glorify self, who want to seek riches, who want to be well known, who want to have a big ministry. This promise is for the Lord and His glory and if your heart is for that, then you can trust that God will fulfill this promise.

If you’re struggling with trusting God you have to get to know the Lord in prayer. Get alone with Him and get to know Him intimately. Set your heart on knowing Him. Also, you have to get to know Him in His Word daily. You will notice that many godly men in Scripture were put in tougher situations than us, but God delivered them. God can fix anything. Readjust your spiritual life today! Write down your prayers in a prayer journal and write down every time God has answered a prayer as a reminder of His faithfulness.

How many times is the word trust mentioned in the Bible?

The Hebrew word batach, which means trust, is found 120 times in the Old Testament, according to Strong’s Concordance. Sometimes it’s translated as rely or secure, but with the essential meaning of trust.

The Greek word peithó, which carries the meaning of trust or having confidence in occurs 53 times in the New Testament.

Bible stories about trusting God

Here are examples of trusting God in the Bible.

Abraham is an excellent illustration of faith in God. First, he abandoned his family and country to follow God’s call into the unknown, trusting God when He promised that a great nation would arise from him, that all families on earth would be blessed through him, and that God had a specific territory reserved for his descendants. 12 (Genesis) Abraham believed God’s promise that He would multiply his offspring until they were as numerous as the dust of the earth and the stars in the sky. (Genesis 13 and 15) He trusted God even though his wife Sarah had been unable to conceive, and by the time they had the promised son, Abraham was 100 and Sarah 90 years old! (Genesis 17-18, 21) Abraham trusted God when He told him to sacrifice Isaac, the promised child, saying that God would provide a sheep (and God did)! (Genesis 22)

The book of Ruth is another story of taking refuge in God and trusting Him for provision. When Ruth’s husband died, and her mother-in-law Naomi decided to move back to Judah, Ruth went with her, telling her, “Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” (Ruth 1:16) Naomi’s close relative Boaz praised her for caring for her mother-in-law and taking refuge under God’s wings. (Ruth 2:12) Ultimately, Ruth’s trust in God brought her security and provision (and love!) when Boaz married her. They had a son who was the ancestor of David and Jesus.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted God when commanded by the king to bow down and worship the great golden statue. Even though they knew the consequence was the fiery furnace, they refused to worship the idol. When King Nebuchadnezzar asked them, “What god will be able to rescue you from my power?” they answered, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to rescue us. Even if He doesn’t, we will never serve your gods.” They trusted God to protect them; not even knowing the outcome, they refused to let the possibility of being burned to death break that trust. They did get thrown into the furnace, but the fire did not touch them. (Daniel 3)

147. Final Words

God is always trustworthy in every scenario, regardless of the good and terrible things that come your way. Whatever challenges you face, you may rely on God’s promises to bring you through, protect you, and provide. God will never abandon you. He is always trustworthy and consistent, and he is deserving of your trust. It is always better to put your reliance on God rather than anything or anyone else. Have faith in Him! Allow Him to demonstrate His power in your life!
