How to be delivered from the works of the flesh

Spread the love

To be delivered from the works of the flesh, how do you get there?

Galatians 5:19:  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed, they immediately experienced moral and spiritual death, separation from God, and then physical death sometime later. Their rebellion introduced the law of sin to all mankind.

Romans 5:12 (KJV) “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all have Fished.

Every human being is born into this world separated from God with a sinful nature. His natural abilities and talents come to him from Eternal as creator; nevertheless, he will depend on himself and do his own will. He is incapable of doing good according to the mind of God.

More and more rebellious, his flesh dominates him; he gives in to the various lusts and temptations that come his way: “…the thoughts of their hearts were directed daily towards evil. The Lord repented that He had made man on earth, and He was grieved in His heart” Genesis 6:5-6 (KJV).

Ephesians 2:1-2 (KJV) You were dead in your trespasses and in your sins, in which you once walked, according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit which now works in the sons of the rebellion.

The flesh is in control, it holds man captive to sins, and condemns him to live according to his own will and lusts. This makes him unable to do good according to God’s mind.

Ephesians 2:3 (KJV)  “We all also were of their number, and we once lived according to the lusts of our flesh, doing the wills of the flesh and of our thoughts, and we were by nature children of wrath, like the others “.

Romans 8:3 (KJV) “For the law being impossible, because the flesh made it weak, God condemned sin in the flesh, sending His own Son because of sin in flesh like unto of sin”

In His love, God sent Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son to break the curse of the law of sin, set free from the flesh, and reconcile all who believe in Him. Through the work of Christ, we can now walk in the Spirit and crucify the flesh.

The Sacrifice of Jesus Christ and Salvation.

Through the redemption God has granted us, mankind has been redeemed and set free from the curse of the law, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, according to John 16:1 John3.5 and Hebrews 9:22.

Hebrews 9:22 And almost everything by law is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

When one experiences the new creation, the old corrupt nature does not disappear. Evil cravings and desires remain. The apostle Paul describes the nature of carnality in Romans 7:18-19: What is good, I know, dwells not in me, that is in my flesh: I have the will, but not the power to do good. Because I don’t do the good that I want, and I do the bad that I don’t want.

Let’s definitely understand the process of spiritual growth of living not by the flesh but by the Spirit, as it says in Colossians 2:6-7. Christians who Struggle in their own strength will falter.

Crucify the flesh and be free from sin

To be free from sin, one must crucify the flesh, “the old man” and die to oneself as it is said in John 12:24, Galatians 2:20, Romans 8:7. To achieve the new creation and put on the new man, let us be determined, disciplined, persevere, and resist with firm and unshakeable faith. See ourselves as dead to sin and alive for God.

Romans 6.6-7 (KJV) Knowing that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; for he who is dead is free from sin.

Continually seek His presence and live by the Spirit.

Let us seek the presence of God and the permanent union with the Holy Spirit. Let us maintain a personal and intimate relationship with Him in prayer, daily reading, and meditation on His Word (Psalm 1:1-2), praise, worship, and celebration with thanksgiving, for the fulfillment of all His promises in our lives, for the victories we will henceforth win over the flesh and the world. Only those who are filled with the Holy Spirit will be successful and live a life of favor.

Galatians 5.16 (KJV) I say, therefore, Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.

Growing in faith and becoming transformed, strong, mature disciples of Christ requires a life of consecration and sanctification through fasting. Let’s set up periods, and separate ourselves for a time from all distractions. Let’s analyze our walk since our conversion, at what stage are we? What is our goal? Are we aware that God has chosen us and destined us for a glorious hope? Christ in us, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).

And if we fall, let us remember this word of Scripture:

Proverbs 24:16 (KJV) For the righteous fall seven times and get up again.

Isaiah 55:7 (KJV) Let him return to the Lord, who will have mercy on him, to our God, who never tires of forgiving.
