How do you know if you are born again

Spread the love

Christ’s resurrection brings with it many joys and happiness because it represents deliverance for Christians. Through the work of the Lord at Easter, we are freed from the grip of Satan and the bondage of sin.
Better still, we have free access to the Kingdom of God to become worthy sons of it. But in this Easter week, we encourage you to take a few minutes of your time to consider whether the purpose of Easter is truly fulfilling in your life.

Do you fully enjoy the completed work of the cross as genuine Christians? Easter is the perfect time to ask the right questions. The purpose of this article is therefore to help you discern whether YES or NO you have really been born again.

In the book of John 3-3, Jesus could say to Nicodemus:

The first thing you should know is that you do not belong to the Kingdom of God by default. Even born into a Christian family, you do not belong to the Kingdom of God until you decide to give your life to Jesus.

Regularly attending church and indulging in religious activities doesn’t change that. You are not Christians until you have had a personal and real encounter with the Lord.

Salvation is individual and personal. It is not a question of common destiny as many people in Christian assemblies think. To see the Kingdom of God, Jesus teaches us, we must first be born again. How do you actually get born again?

To be born again, at the risk of disappointing you, you must first die. As a seed that goes into the earth can germinate only after having known death, it is impossible to be born again without first dying.

It might not be the most heartwarming article you’ve read this week, but it’s the truth. Today, many people say they are born again but have never known death. By what miracle is this possible? Two lives cannot inhabit the same Body. Either it is you who live, or it is Christ who lives in you.

At this precise moment, you can pause and ask yourself: “Who really lives in me, who is in control of my life?” The Apostle Paul could confidently state:

“I was crucified with Christ; and if I live, it is no longer I who live, it is Christ who lives in me; if I now live in the flesh, I live in faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me. »Galatians 2-20 (KJV)

This is the true meaning of Easter. Die, to let Christ live in us. The death we are talking about here, however, is not our physical death. It is the death of the flesh, of its desires and passions. It is death to ourselves, to our selfish ambitions, to our projects, to our vain way of living, etc. to welcome the life of Christ into us. This act is symbolized by water baptism by immersion. It materializes our death to ourselves (by going completely underwater) as well as our new life in Christ. What then are your motivations in life? Are you still obsessed with your personal projects, your success, your marriage, your children, your studies, your work, your enrichment, etc. or are you only concerned with the will of God, His plans for you, His purposes for which He wishes to use you? If your motivations are still so focused on you at the expense of God, this is a sign that you are not dead to yourselves yet. It doesn’t matter how many years you would have spent in church. God is bound to be your primary focus if you are born again. You no longer live for yourselves but for Him alone, for His pleasure, for His Glory.

Those who are truly born again are fully aware that their life is no longer theirs and that they cannot do what they want with it (taking drugs, getting drunk on alcohol, having abortions, living in the world). sexual immorality etc.). They died to themselves and the life of Christ dwells fully in them through the Holy Spirit. Now, “all who are led by the Spirit of God are the Sons of God” (Romans   8-14 KJV).
They are therefore the Sons of God by His grace, and they are fond of the things of the Spirit, in contempt of the things of the flesh.
“Indeed, those who live according to the flesh set their hearts on things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their hearts on the things of the spirit. “(Romans 8-5 KJV)

If therefore, you find your pleasure in the works of the flesh (Galatians 5: 19-21), the Holy Spirit is not in you and if you are not inhabited by the Holy Spirit, you do not belong to the Lord. But the good news is that it is for you that Christ, our Easter, was slain, it is to save you that he was crucified. You must therefore agree to be born again to enjoy it.

Conclusion:
If upon reading this article, the Holy Spirit convinces you that you have not yet been born again, know that today is a window of Grace open to you. You must therefore be born again today and without delay, for tomorrow may be too late. Eternity is decidedly too long to spend in bad company, outside the presence of God. Think about it!
