The Scriptures provide guidelines for all areas of our lives, including our finances. By browsing books like Ecclesiastes or Proverbs, we can find real pearls on money management! Here are 10 key verses that constitute rules to follow in our finances!

1) Give a share of your income to God!

“Honor the Lord with your goods and with the first of all your products! (Proverbs 3:9)

2) Don’t idolize money.

“No servant can serve two masters. For either he will hate one and love the other; or he will cling to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon (deity of money and material wealth).” (Luke 16:13)

3) Make money legally.

“An ill-gotten fortune diminishes, but he who accumulates little by little increases his wealth.” Proverbs 13:11

4) Anticipate your needs for difficult times by saving!

“Go to the ant, sloth. Consider his ways and become wise. It has neither chief nor inspector nor master. She prepares her food in the summer. She gathers during the harvest what to eat.” Proverbs 6:6-8

5) Make money grow wisely.

“He who had received the five talents came near, bringing five more talents, and he said: Lord, you have given me five talents; behold, I have won five more. His master said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, you have been faithful over a few things, I will entrust you with much; enter into the joy of your master.” (Matthew 25:20-21)

6) Learn contentment.

“Let your conduct not be guided by the love of money, be content with what you have. Indeed, God himself said: I will not leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

7) Avoid borrowing

“The rich rules over the poor, And he who borrows is slave to him who lends.” (Proverbs 22:7)

8) Be generous and give to people in need.

“I have shown you in any case that it is by working in this way that you must support the weak, and remember the words of the Lord, who himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive. .” (Acts 20:35)

9) Pay debts or taxes.

Is it lawful for us to pay tribute to Caesar or not? Jesus perceiving their cunning, answered them:  Show me a denarius. Whose effigy and inscription does it bear? From Caesar, they answered. Then he said to them, Render therefore to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s. (Luke 20:22-25)

10) See yourself as manager of God’s money because it is He who provides!

“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Old 2:8)

Bible verses about provision

It’s easy to worry about money. We often ask ourselves questions like, “Will I have enough money to pay my bills this month?” or “What will I do if I lose my job?”

To reduce financial stress, it’s important to put your hope in God rather than in money. We do this because God is the source of all that we have. He is our Heavenly Father, and as a good Father, he takes responsibility for providing for us.

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT MONEY MANAGEMENT

All that we have, including our wealth, is a gift from God (Psalm 24:1; Job 41:11). Reading the following verses, you will notice a major biblical theme about managing money—we are expected to grow what God has given us! In the end, we will be accountable for how we have invested what was entrusted to us.

  • Matthew 25:14–30
    One of the most compelling examples of this biblical truth is found in Jesus’ parable of the bags of gold

    Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.

    The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground, and hid his master’s money.

    The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

    Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
    His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
    ‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Jesus told a similar parable in Luke 19:11–26, and its conclusion was the same:
