The right hand of justice refers to the divine justice of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who through his sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary redeemed us from all our sins and intercedes before the Heavenly Father for our sins.

We understand that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one and each one has its own essence. This can sometimes be somewhat confusing and turns out to be a great mystery. However, the word of God does not indicate in the following passage: “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth” (1 John 5:7).

In this way, Jesus is our intercessor and he does us justice before God so that he absolves us of all our iniquity and wickedness. That is why it is important to confess and repent of our sins, acknowledging our weakness and dependence before the Lord.

The Right Hand of Righteousness – Where It Comes From

In this way, Jesus is our intercessor, God our Judge and the Holy Spirit our comforter. But they are one and they are manifested in our life by faith, without which we cannot please God. In this regard, the word tells us the following:

“But whatever was gain to me, I have counted as loss for Christ’s sake. And furthermore, I count all things as loss in view of the incomparable value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost everything, and count it as rubbish in order to win Christ, and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness derived from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness that proceeds from God on the basis of faith”   (Philippians 3:7-9).

In this sense, justice comes from God and not from us because only he knows the hearts, minds, souls and spirits and therefore can know what is fair for each one of us. What is unfair to us is unfair to him because God works in a mysterious way according to his perfect will.

The word of God offers us different promises in which we can take refuge when we are in the midst of a difficult situation, illness, loss or scarcity because he offers us his right hand of justice at all times:

“Do not fear, because I am with you; do not dismay, because I am your God who strives for you; I will always help you, I will always uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isa 41:10)

In this sense, this quote is a beautiful promise from the Lord that tells us that nothing will be given to us that is not fair to his children. In this way, God will never use his right hand in injustice because his right hand always manifests his justice, and therefore he cannot transgress justice.

His right hand of justice is always directed to do his will and will never harm the purpose he has for each of his children. Although sometimes we cannot fully understand his divine plans, we have to be certain that our God is just and he will never leave us because his mercy, love and fidelity are forever.

So when we live in his justice, we should not have to fear any, since his right hand sustains us and sustains us at all times. But we must not deviate from the right path or get out of her justice because soon help is in her.

In this sense, we have to keep in mind that God is working in justice and that his mighty right hand will never leave us because God is just and his justice is manifested over the entire world.

What does the right hand of justice mean in light of the bible

As mentioned before, the right hand of justice comes from God and turns out to be a great mystery and a controversial topic because sometimes we do not understand the Lord’s designs and we think that by our own strength we can achieve things. But without the help of Our God, our effort is useless because without him we are nothing and our life has no meaning.

In order to better understand the meaning of the word “right-handed”, we must analyze what the Holy Scriptures point out and understand what God reveals to us: “But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looking up to heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus who was at the right hand of God and said, Behold, I see heaven opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God” (Acts 7:55).

The right hand literally refers to the hand or leg located on the opposite side of the heart in the human being, “right hand” denotes “right”; either to indicate a direction or a side.

In this regard, in the book of Genesis 24:49, the following is expressed: “Now then, if you show mercy and truth to my master, tell me; and if not, tell me; and I will go to the right or to the left.”

In this passage, we can see that Abraham’s servant went looking for a wife for Isaac. He mentions the word “right” or “sinister” to indicate the right or left side of a path, that is, it refers to the direction we must take.

On the other hand, we can read in 2 Samuel 20:9, the following quote: “And he took Amasa’s beard with his right hand, to kiss him”; and it certainly alludes to the right hand. Similarly, in 1 Kings 2:19, the following is stated:

“Bathsheba came to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. And the king rose to meet her, and bowed down to her, and sat down again on her throne, and had a chair brought for her mother, and she sat at her right hand.”

In this passage it can be seen that it refers to the right or it is understood that Solomon had a chair brought that was placed on the right side for Bathsheba, his mother, to sit on: “who sat at his right hand”, pointing to the right side . That is the use that we generally give to the word “right-handed”.

Similarly, the term “right hand” is a use attributed to the word applied to certain manifestations of God. In this regard, Our Lord Jesus Christ, being a man, had a right hand and a right side; he had a “right hand”.

In this regard, the following can be seen in the word: “Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached him with her sons, prostrating themselves before him and asking him for something. He said to him: What do you want? She said to him: Order that these two sons of mine sit in your kingdom, one to your right, and the other to your left. Then Jesus answering, said: You do not know what you ask. Can you drink from the cup that I am to drink, and be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized? And they said: We can. He said to them: Truly, you will drink from my cup, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized; but to sit at my right hand and at my left, it is not mine to give, but to those for whom it is prepared by my Father”(Matthew 20:20-23). In this same order of ideas, Jesus not only had a right hand, a right but also had a left hand, that is, a left.

What does the right hand mean with respect to God in his Holy Spirit

In the deity of God, we can appreciate that the word “Right Hand” changes meaning, since it not only indicates one side, but also refers to the fact that God is Spirit.

In order to better understand this in relation to man, the scriptures must be searched: “For he will stand at the right hand of the poor, to deliver his soul from those who judge him.” (Psalm 109:31).

In this passage, we can see that the right hand of God is protection and acts according to his justice and perfect will. Jesus Christ came to do justice to the needy, the poor and the vulnerable. That is why he established a second commandment to establish the importance of justice against the weakest. The word points out to us this mandate of Christ:

What is the most important commandment of all? Jesus replied: —The first and most important of the commandments is the one that says: “Listen, people of Israel! Our only God is the God of Israel. 30 Love your God with all that you think, with all that you are, and with all that you are worth.” 31 And the second most important commandment is: “Each one should love his neighbour as he loves himself.” No other commandment is more important than these two” (Mark 12:28-31)

In this sense, the term “right hand”, although it refers to men, has the same meaning for God, however, it is not applied to indicate a specific physical side of the man or of the Lord, but rather establishes the power that was in them, or was attributed to them. In the bible, we can see passages in which it is visualized on this subject:

  • “The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.” (Psalm 110:1). In this quote, the word “right-handed” alludes to power and not to a specific side. It also demands that we must be under the cover of God, we must be at his right hand, constantly seeking his presence, his love, justice and mercy.
  • “Whose mouth speaks vanity, and whose right hand is a right hand of lies.” (Psalm 144:8). In this passage, reference is made to the power of enemies who are full of vanity.

In this order of ideas, the Bible tells us in different passages that Jesus sits or is at the “right hand” of God, and this gives us to understand that Our Lord Jesus Christ is sitting right next to God. In order to deepen this topic, let us observe some biblical passages:

  • “Jesus said to him: You have said it; and furthermore I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the power of God, and coming on the clouds of heaven.” (Matthew 26:64). Here, the key term is “Sitting at the right hand of God” and refers to the fact of being positioned on the Divine Power.
  • “And the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.” (Mark 16:19). What this passage means to us is that Our Lord Jesus Christ took the Power of Deity and since he is God, he took what belongs to him.
  • “But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looking up to heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and he said, Behold, I see heaven opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” (Acts 7:55-56). In this passage mention is made of the right hand to refer to the Throne of the Power of Deity or the power of God.

In this sense, the term “right hand” does not only refer to the right side, but the right hand of righteousness comes from God and reveals his Power. Also in the bible, it is referred to that this right hand of justice protects the children of God and if we remain in communion with God we can achieve justice and mercy from him.

On the other hand, it is also important to note that God is Spirit and through him, we can be led into all truth. Through his Holy Spirit, we find comfort in the face of life’s adversities.

When we accept Our Lord Jesus Christ as our only true God, the Holy Spirit begins to dwell in us, moulding and transforming us into the image and likeness of Christ so that we can obtain his righteousness.

So when the word tells us that Jesus is at the “right hand” of the Father, it refers to his appropriation of the Godhead: “In him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Colossians 2:9). form, He will act only with the Power of His Divinity.

That is why it is important to read the bible with understanding to understand that when it is said that Jesus is at the right hand of God, it should not be interpreted that he is at the right hand of God as something physical but rather refers to the Power of God.

In this sense, when the right hand of God is spoken of in the Bible, it is symbolic and figurative because its meaning goes beyond describing it as a specific side of God.

The right hand of justice is the Power of God in Jesus, who defeated Satan on the cross of Calvary, bearing our sins and defeating death by rising in Glory on the third day. Jesus reveals the power of the right hand of God.
