Finances are among the confusing topics facing everyone, including God’s children. But God’s will for us who are His children is to live a life free from financial stress because we cannot serve God and Mammon.
Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters at the same time, for either he will hate one and love the other or he will be devoted to the first and despise the second. You cannot serve both God and money at the same time.
What does the Bible say about your finances?
God desires our whole heart, how to give Him our full attention if we have our minds divided between the thirst to possess and the ultimate desire to please Him. In this excerpt, we will see what the Bible says about our finances and how to reconcile finances and spirituality.
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Matthew 6:33: “Make therefore the Kingdom of God and what is right in His eyes your first concern, and all these things will be given to you in addition.
The majority of God’s children are poorly taught about managing their finances, which most often pushes them to extremes, either they love money, obsess over it, or they ignore it and languish in a life of misery while looking resignedly at those who have mastered the principles of prosperity and are prospering.
Yet the Word of God is unequivocal and unambiguous about it; it is necessary first to seek the Kingdom of God, that is to say, to put God in the first place, to have the interests of the Kingdom at heart instead of running after money, for example, not engaging in ministry to line one’s own pockets with tithes and offerings from the faithful, or use one’s talent for “God” in order to make money.
Our motives should be pure, then God who searches the hearts will bless us, beyond our expectations.

Pay God first.
Abraham, our Father in faith instituted the payment of tithing by offering the tenth of his holdings to the high priest Melchizedek (Genesis 14:20). This tradition has continued throughout history and continues today under the new covenant with Christ.
Proverbs 3:10-11 (Sower version) “Honor the Lord by giving Him part of your wealth, and by offering Him the first fruits of all your income. Then your barns will overflow with food and your vats will overflow with wine. »
Tithing and offerings are our way of honouring God with what He has given us because everything belongs to Him, the earth, and everything in it belongs to the Lord (Psalms 24:1). So there is nothing we can give to God that can surprise Him. Paying God first is an act of worship, a way to show our Father that He is first in all things! It also helps us not be attached to money and have a good attitude of heart regarding money.
Help widows and orphans.
James 1: 27 “Authentic and pure religion in the eyes of God, the Father, consists in helping orphans and widows in their distress and not allowing themselves to be corrupted by the world.
We are blessed to be a blessing, especially to the most disadvantaged. James 2: 15-16 encourages us on this subject: “suppose that a brother or a sister lacks clothing and does not have enough to eat every day. And now one of you says to them: goodbye, my friends, be well, stay warm and bon appetit, without giving them enough to meet the needs of their bodies, what’s the point? »
We often want to get rich just for our selfish interests, which hinders the financial blessing in our lives, yet it is not God’s will that we should be sources of blessing to others. Giving to widows and orphans is a way of demonstrating our faith in God by obeying the divine law of love.
Always remember that God is our source.
Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (Sower version) “Take care therefore not to say: It is by my own strength and my power that I have acquired all these riches. On the contrary, remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you the strength to achieve prosperity and that He does it today to fulfill the commitments towards you which He took on oath in concluding a covenant with your ancestors”.
Let us always have the humility to recognize the power of God through our exploits, whatever they are. The verse quoted above reminds us that nothing that we experience as success should cause us to lose our minds to the point of making us believe that we are responsible for it. God alone is our source, not our bank account, our job, our business but God. For it is His blessing that enriches us and not our own strength.
The Bible contains all the ingredients needed to live a prosperous financial life that glorifies God. The truth is that God wants us to be prosperous, but the only obstacle to that is our heart attitude because if we love God more than anything, the financial and material blessing will only naturally flow.
Matthew 7:11: “If then, you are bad, you know how to give good things to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask Him.
