Steps to seeking god
Once we accept Christ, we are sealed with his Holy Spirit who comes to dwell in our lives, filling us with the power and love of God.
However, with our decisions and our daily attitudes, we can enliven and increase the presence of God in our lives, or remove God from our lives by saddening his presence. That is why we must find a way to seek his presence. below are ways to seek the presence of God in our lives?
1. Recognize your great need for God’s presence.
The first thing to know how to seek the presence of God in our lives is to recognize the great need we have for his presence, until you feel that great need or do not recognize that you need it, there will be no change in you.
The psalmist compared this need to thirst in the middle of the deserts. The question is, he feels that thirst, he recognizes that without God we cannot do anything, he needs that presence in his life.
“Like a panting deer in search of water,
This is how my whole being seeks you, oh God.
I thirst for God, for the God of life.
When will I be able to present myself before God?”
Psalm 42. 1-2 NIV
2. Submit your will to God.
“God did not call us to impurity but to holiness;
Therefore, the one who rejects these instructions does not reject a
Man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit”
1 Thessalonians 4:7-8
God is a gentleman and will never force you to do anything, however, you must submit yourself to God, understanding that our nature is sinful and distances us from God, who is Holy, therefore, we must recognize day by day our weaknesses and choose God.
So I say to you: Live by the Spirit, and you will not follow the desires of the
sinful nature. Because it desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and
The Spirit desires what is contrary to it. The two oppose each other
So you can’t do what you want.
Galatians 5:16-17 NIV
3. Read the word of God and declare it in your life
Submit your will to God, now, how will you know that you are submitting to God, simply read his word. It is impossible to know someone without sharing with that person, therefore if you want to know who God is and how to approach his presence you need to feed your spirit with the word of God that is alive and effective.
“Surely the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than
Any two-edged sword. Penetrates to the depths of the soul and
Spirit, to the marrow of the bones, and judges the thoughts and actions
Heart intentions. No created thing escapes the sight of God.
Everything is in the open, exposed to the eyes of the one to whom we are accountable”.
Hebrews 4.12-13
Pray at all times and pour out your heart before God.
If you want to guarantee the presence of God in your life, you must talk to God and give him the first place in your life.
Ask yourself, when you feel bad, who do you go to? And if you feel lonely, who do you seek company from? And when you are in trouble, who do you seek help from? And when he is going to make a decision, who advises him? Who do you trust? Who does he vent to? To whom do you share your sadness and your happiest moments?
