It’s a question that has been asked for centuries: how long did it take Noah to build the Ark? It’s a question with a seemingly simple answer, yet one that has been debated and discussed in both religious and scientific circles.

The Bible gives us a timeline of 120 years, but is that really enough time to construct such a large vessel? Was Noah a master builder? Or was he aided by divine intervention?

In this article, we’ll explore the various theories about the construction of the Ark, from the biblical account to modern-day scientific estimates. Let’s dive in and discover the answer to one of the most mysterious questions of all time.

How long did it take Noah to build the Ark?

so many preachers have claimed that Noah built the ark in 120 years, but I did not find that mentioned in the Bible.
All I see is that in the book of Genesis 5:32 it says that Noah was five hundred years old when his sons were born, and in Genesis 7:6 he was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was on the earth. Please explain this to me.

Indeed, in Genesis 5, it is said that Noah was five hundred years old when his sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth were born:

“Noah, five hundred years old, begot Shem, Ham and Japheth. “

It is possible that the three sons were twins, not sure, but what is certain is that all were born when Noah was 500 years old.

Noah was born approximately a thousand years after the creation of the world.

Before the flood, God ordered Noah to build an ark:

“God looked at the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its way on earth. Then God said to Noah: The end of all flesh is stopped before me; for they have filled the earth with violence; behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Make yourself an ark of gopher wood; You will arrange this ark in cells, and you will cover it with pitch inside and without. This is how you will make it: the ark will be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high.

Make a window for the ark, and make it a cubit above; you will make a door by the side of the ark; and you will build a lower story, a second and a third.

And I, I will bring the flood of waters on the earth, to destroy all flesh having breath of life under the sky; all that is on the earth will perish.

But I establish my covenant with you;you and your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you will enter the ark. Of all living things, of all flesh, you will bring into the ark two of each kind, to keep them alive with you: there will be a male and a female. Birds after their kind, and cattle after their kind, and all the creeping things of the earth after their kind, two of each kind shall come to you, that you may keep them alive.

And you, take of all the food that is eaten, and store it with you, that they may serve you and them. That’s what Noah did: he did everything God commanded him. “(Genesis 6: 12 – 22)

Noah was ordained when his sons were married. Probably they got married when they were 20 or 30 or 50 years old. The Bible doesn’t tell us when Shem, Ham, and Japheth got married, but they sure got married when Noah was over 520 years old.

The Flood came when Noah was 600 years old.

“Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters hit the earth. “(Genesis 7: 6)

By a simple calculation, we can say that Noah built the ark in less than 80 years. Also, because Noah’s ark had very large dimensions, we can say that its construction took a long time. Probably the construction lasted 5, 10, or 50 years, we do not know exactly, but we can say that it did not last 100 years.

How long was Noah in the Ark?

When Noah entered the Ark, How long did he spend in the Ark?
Noah entered the Ark on the 17th day of the 2nd month of the 600th year of his life ( Genesis 7.11-13 ) and left on the 27th day of the 2nd month of the following year ( Genesis 8.14-15).). Based on a 360-day lunar calendar, Noah, therefore, spent approximately 370 days in the Ark.

How many animals of each species were in the Ark?

Seven specimens from each pure animal and two from the other animals ( Genesis 6.19-20, 7.2-3). The “clean” animals are those that can be offered as a sacrifice, which is why Noah took seven so that he could sacrifice some after the Flood without destroying their species.

How many people were there on the Ark?

According to Genesis 6-8, the passengers of the Ark were Noah, his wife, his three sons (Shem, Ham, and Japheth), and their daughters, which makes eight people.

Who was Noah’s wife?

The Bible does not mention the name or identity of Noah’s wife. According to a tradition, it would be Naama ( Genesis 4:22 ). It is possible, but the Bible does not say so clearly.

Final Thoughts

We’ve all heard the story of Noah’s Ark. It’s a classic tale of God instructing Noah to build a giant boat to save himself, his family, and two of every animal in the world from a great flood. But have you ever wondered how long it took Noah to build the Ark?

The Bible doesn’t provide an exact answer, but some scholars have come up with some pretty interesting theories which we discuss in this article. If you like this post, kindly share it with friends.
