5 Benefits of Being Grateful That Will Deeply Impact Your Life

Here are 5 benefits of recognition. Some of these benefits have been scientifically demonstrated

1. Gratitude makes you happier

Some time ago I saw a list of the happiest countries in the world. I realized that the richest countries on the planet were not in the first place. On the contrary, countries that you would never imagine were among the best.

To which comes the question, why these countries had been listed as the happiest? The answer surprised me.

The countries that were in the first places had something in common: The people were grateful and their expectations were not overly ambitious.

The answer was not a better climate, a growing economy, affordable real estate, natural beauty, and safety… the answer was that they were grateful and their expectations were not overly ambitious.

When you are a grateful person, your mind focuses on what you have and not on what you lack. That simple fact makes you a much happier person.

2. Benefits the person who receives it

Being grateful benefits others. How many times have you felt good when another person thanks you for something? How many times have you felt your work valued, your important ideas, your person accepted when someone thanks you?

That’s the point, a grateful person is not only happier but also spreads blessings around him every time he thanks others.

3. It Strengthens relationships

Consequently benefiting other people strengthens relationships. It makes people want to be with you. It makes you an interesting person.

I remember that on the day of my marriage, my father-in-law told us these words: Do not enter the marriage thinking about what the other person is going to give you. Enter marriage assuming that everything you are given is a gift. If they do that, they will have a marriage forever.

4. Develop a positive attitude

When we are grateful we develop a tendency to see the positive side of things. Consequently, you manage to maintain a positive attitude. We see the glass half full, we see the sun through the gray clouds.

5. It makes you aware of the world around you

Being grateful shows you a hidden world that most people don’t see. There is a chain of “coincidences” that allow you to live, see, and interact with the world. Being grateful makes you aware of that chain.

Do you know the hundreds of functions in your body, in the world, and in the universe that needs to happen perfectly for you to live? Why can you have electricity, water, a car, or the internet that you are using right now?

Life is a miracle that you can only see when you put on the glasses of gratitude.

This week I read the following “ gratitude can transform what we have into enough, a meal into a banquet, a house into a home, and a stranger into a friend. No matter how difficult your circumstances are, I am sure there is always something you can be thankful for.”
