What are the things that prove you love God as a Christian?
As Christians, we are commanded to love God and others above all else. But how do we show that love to God? How do we show that love to others? Jesus says that if you have a love for Him and others, you will show it through your actions. Check out these 5 unmistakable proofs that you are truly loving God and loving people.
5 Things that prove you love God
1. Obey and put His Word into practice.
Indeed, to love God is to put His Word into practice in our life, to show that what He says is important to us. The Bible tells us in John 14:15 (KJV) “If you love Me, keep My commandments”. On the other hand, James 1:25 (KJV) tells us: “If anyone does not put the Word into practice, he is like a man who looks in a mirror at his natural face, and who, after looking at himself goes away, and immediately forgets who he was”.
Also, we can go to church and speak in tongues, but if we don’t put God’s Word into practice, all we can do, our works are in vain and bear no fruit.
2. Sanctify oneself and keep oneself for Him
Sanctification is the fact of being able to set oneself apart for the Lord, to flee from the impurities of this world, in other words, the works of the flesh, such as fornication, greed, and excesses of tables, drunkenness, impurity, disputes, divination, etc. It is written in 1 Thessalonians 4:7 (KJV) “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness but to sanctification”.
Moreover, 1 Peter 1:16 (KJV) tells us: “Be holy, for I am holy”. This shows us that God wants us to be holy for Him, that we are not defiled because He is a holy God, without spot or anything impure in Him. Amen! So He requires that His children also be holy.
3. Love Him for who He is and not for what He gives.
Sometimes we think we love God, but in reality, we love Him for what He does/gives and not for His heart. Many Christians love God for what He gives and not for who He is. I may be shocking but it’s hypocrisy, it’s “Loving Him” out of interest. We may want God to act in our life, which is completely normal, but to love Him only for the blessings is not to love God. The Bible tells us: in Matthew 6:33 (KJV) “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you in addition”.

4. Loving others as ourselves
1 Corinthians 13:2 (KJV) “And when I have the gift of prophecy, the knowledge of all mysteries, and all knowledge, even when I have all the faith to move mountains, if I have not charity (love), I am nothing”.
We must not forget that God is love first and that we must walk in love, and love each other, even if it is not easy because it is the royal law. God wants us to walk in love, this is one of the greatest and most important commandments. Even if we are criticized, even if there is jealousy, we are rejected, belittled and many others, whatever man does to us, we must walk in love because it is the will of God towards you. But for that, we must be filled with the love of God in order to be able to love others.
5. Giving up our own life for Him
It is not enough just to follow the commandments of God. It is still necessary to give up one’s life, to live for Him, to have given Him our heart, our whole life, and to put His desires before ours.
We can also see it in the Word of God in Mark 10:19:22 (KJV) “You know the commandments: Thou shalt not commit adultery; you will not kill; you shall not steal; thou shalt not bear false witness; you will not harm anyone; honor your father and your mother. He answered him: Master, I have observed all these things from my youth; Jesus, having looked at him, loved him, and said to him: You lack one thing; go, sell all you have, give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. then come, and follow Me; But, afflicted by these words, this man went away very sad; for he had great possessions”.
So, beloved, God first loved us so we must also love Him with all our hearts and obey Him.
