Spread the love

According to the Bible, God the Father is that being who looks with love at all his creation, whom he sees as his children and whom he blesses in a special way, but in the same way, he corrects as any father would correct his children so that they can fulfill their divine purpose in life on Earth.

In this sense, the Bible has a diversity of verses that present God as the father of all creation, and that is why Jesus, being on earth at all times, addressed God as the father, demonstrating the identity that everyone must have as believers.

God the Father according to the Bible

The Bible is the most important book that a believer in God can have since it contains the teachings that must be carried out in their daily lives.

And in that special way, the promise of God for all his children is manifested and not as that distant but as that close who loves us.

“See what love the Father has given us, so that we may be called children of God;

For this reason, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him” (1 John 3:1).

Through this biblical quote, you can see how the apostle John begins to describe the love that the father gives his children.

In the Greek word  “which love”  is found  6 times in the New Testament.

And it is always implying wonder and admiration at how great and powerful that fatherly love can be.

The father loves us

In this sense, it is important to highlight when he says the  “Father loves us” since in that He is describing that condition of unconditional love.

It is a love that is not measured, nor changing, nor diluted, but that remains stable and invariable in the face of any condition or situation and he pours out his love on all his children.

In the same way, it should be noted that John uses the word  “Father”  in a premeditated way, with the purpose of establishing that relationship that implies the filial father-son relationship.

Also, it should be clarified that God’s fatherhood is eternal since he is the Father of Jesus Christ and through Him, he becomes our father.

Being children of God through Jesus

All this leads to the fact that when  Jesus is received as their Savior they could receive the love of the Father since they will be constituted children of God.

And they will receive that paternity that comes from heaven, to guide them towards that prophetic destiny that has been established for each one of those who love the Lord.

“But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God; which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:11-12).

Be heirs of God

And it is for this reason that all those who become children of God are heirs and joint heirs with Christ Jesus.

This gives him the right to convert through faith in Jesus Christ, so his love extends to every believer.

“And if children, also heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if we suffer together with him, that we may be glorified together with him” (Romans 8:17).

Fatherhood of God

The plan of salvation created by God through the Lord Jesus is the initiative of a true Father who loves.

And that he seeks salvation for all his children, which is why his paternity is not ephemeral but eternal.

“For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

And in this sense, it must be understood that the basis of a believer‘s life is to rest in the fatherhood of God.

May that truth be revealed through the Holy Spirit that demonstrates the love of a Father with his son as the word says:

• “You will call me: My Father and you will not turn away from following me” (Jeremiah 3:19)

• “The son honors the father, and the servant his lord. If, then, I am the Father, where is my honor? (Malachi 1:6)

• “But you are our Father…you, O Jehovah, are our Father; our everlasting Redeemer is your name” (Isaiah 63:16)

• ”He who has seen me has seen the Father; How, then, do you say: Show us the Father? (John 14:9)

Address as Parent

And based on these bible verses, Jesus himself affirms through the model prayer that God should be addressed as  “Our Father”.

Jesus is speaking in the plural, and that means that each believer becomes a child of God and He becomes the Father of all.

“It happened that Jesus was praying in a place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him: Lord, teach us to pray, as also John taught his disciples. And he said to them: When you pray, say:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as in heaven” (Luke 11:1-2).

Through this prayer, you can break down those characteristics of God who comes to meet the needs of his children.

Emphasizing love, security, the provision that is needed, protection against fear or adverse situations, teaching, and discipline that every parent brings to their children.

How to Honor God as Father

To honor God as Father, all believers must develop intimacy with Him in their lives, seek His presence, and understand His plans.

Let it not be a vain habit, but a lifestyle that is transformed by the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life.

And to honor the Father, the following actions must be fulfilled:

1. Worship with the heart

You must worship God with all your heart, doing it as someone who loves his father and wants to have that special encounter with Him.

“But the hour comes, and now it is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; because also the Father such worshipers seek to be worshiped. God is Spirit; those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24).

2. Obediently

Being obedient to each of his mandates and precepts, fulfilling the orders that as a father he gives to all his children.

“He who has my commandments, and keeps them, that is the one who loves me; and whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him” (John 14:21).

3. Know who God is as Father

It is important that as children seek the knowledge of God, that is, not to see him from afar but to approach Him and know who He is as a Father.

“Thus saith the LORD: Let not the wise boast in his wisdom, nor let the mighty boast in his valor, nor let the rich boast in his riches. But let him who praises himself boast in this: in understanding me and knowing me, that I am Jehovah, that I do mercy, judgment, and justice on earth; for these things I want, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

4. Make God Known as Father

Make Heavenly Father and his power known before enemies, just as King David did when he faced Goliath, who brought him down with the power of the Spirit of God.

“Then David said to the Philistine: You come to me with sword and spear and javelin; but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the squadrons of Israel, whom you have provoked. Jehovah will deliver you into my hand today, and I will defeat you, and I will cut off your head, and I will give the carcasses of the Philistines today to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth, and all the earth shall know that there is a God in Israel” (1 Samuel 17:45-46)

5. Love to the Father

Demonstrate an undeniable love for the Heavenly Father, to whom she is honored with each of the things she undertakes on earth, and thus be able to be that lineage that He has chosen to carry his name on earth.

“In love, having predestined us to adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the pure affection of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, with which he has made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:5-6).

“But you are a chosen lineage, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired by God,  so that you may announce the virtues of him who called you out of darkness into his admirable light; you who in another time were not a people, but now you are the people of God; that in another time you had not obtained mercy, but now you have obtained mercy “(1st. Peter 2:9-10)

Conclusion:

Finally, it can be said that the Holy Scriptures teach what rights and privileges that being children of God entails.

Therefore we invite you to know the meaning of God the Father according to the Bible,  and that will be experienced through the knowledge that is acquired every day in his presence.

And at all times put your faith and trust in the Heavenly Father, in the same way as a child does with an earthly father.

All of this must be done with the creator of all things, who wants us to participate in his holiness and receive each of the blessings that he has prepared for his children.
