Love is not what you feel, it is what you want. Here on this post, we shall be unveiling God’s love and things you should know about this love of God

10 Things to know about Gods love

Find out 10 things you should know about the love of God below

1. God’s love can be known.

We cannot define God in terms of a deep definition of who He is, but we can always describe Him correctly. We can do it because he makes us known in his words and opens our eyes to that word through his passion. How is that possible despite divine differences? That may be because God makes us known to the reality of being. He takes the things he has done and uses them to describe us. So it’s lions, rocks, fire, even butterflies and mites (See!).

2. God is known in the same way.

When God uses creative objects such as lions to speak for Himself in the Bible, He speaks the same way. This means that the things he describes himself with are not yet the same as his, nor are they different from his at all. This is rocky, for example not because it is made of stone. If it only means “rock” then we cannot describe the whole point of the rock formation point by point. But you can’t think it’s not rocky, like rock, either. When we say it is a stone it doesn’t mean much, when we say the stone is a stone we mean the stone is not made of stone, but strong and reliable. How is it possible that the things made for us are like God? Maybe just because he made it. It was as if his fingerprints had been left on the items he had made, so that each contained a clear picture of some of his divine attributes. Our fallen senses may not unite God’s picture of what he has done – the rapture of natural revelation – but in inspired words he can use these things to describe himself, and so he can enlighten our minds and trust the subject. All of this applies to the love of God: when we read “God is love,” we know something about that love, which he has done, but it is not known that his love shows the created love that we already know.

3. The love of God is incomprehensible.

No human mind can understand God. We cannot determine God. We cannot fully describe who he is. He dwells in the light and that does not keep itself” (1 Tim. 6:16). If God is incomprehensible, so is his love. Even if we can and should say the truth about his love, we will never be able to understand it, for unlike our love, it is divine love as long as his life differs from our love.

If God is incomprehensible, so is his love.

4. The images of God in the Bible rule one another, including the image of his love.

Then the urgent question arises: How do we know which aspects of each image our God has drawn and which should not apply to us? How do we know that we cannot conclude that his love can flow and flow like human love, even though it may fail? This may seem obvious to us, but it is only because we have learned to read the Bible properly to some degree. If we stop and think about it, what is the reason we don’t get distracted? The reason is that other ways God portrays himself prevent us from doing this – for example, by repeatedly depicting ourselves when God promises to swear earnestly by his people. The Bible is a book that explains itself: what is in one section shows us how to read another section. Many pictures of his God are a series of pictures that can be individually interpreted. And that also applies to photos of his love.

5. God’s love must be “read”, especially in what the Bible teaches about his life.

Furthermore, the larger context of John’s writings will repeatedly associate the love of God with a threefold life. John loves to write about a father’s love for a son and a son’s love for a father. He even mentions that the Lord Jesus said that the Father loved him because he had given his life to him (John 10:17). Love is not unique because it is Trinitarian: all the attributes of God are attributes of God to three persons, but we cannot lose the Trinitarian character of God’s love.

6. God’s love should be found in other verses of Scripture

We are not free to take the “God is love” ball and run with it wherever we want. This statement is meant to remain in the direct context of 1 John 4, in the context of John’s larger writings, and in the final context of the complete description of God in the Scriptures. The local context immediately reminds us (in verse 10) of the relationship between love and reconciliation, which forces us to understand God’s love as well as his righteousness and wrath. The main context of Scripture will carry all the attributes of God except his love of him. Together, they form their own structured network of interests.

7. We are quick to draw wrong conclusions about God’s love.

We often pay less attention to how to interpret the language of love based on other things that God has about him. This becomes very clear when someone says something like, “If I am a loving God, then …” The following considerations usually do not apply to the whole picture of God Himself, even in Scripture. When we do this, God is actually a projection of our great self, a shadow plastered on the screen behind us, the function of which is magnified and exaggerated. Since it may be clear to us that God will not choose to love us, His love differs from our love in other ways, such as free, sovereign, unchanging, whatever, for less obvious reasons, fair and dissatisfied (yes, I understand).

8. Reading God’s love in its larger context prevents us from making mistakes.

Love is perhaps the most obvious attribute from a Trinitarian perspective, but we see it more easily than understand its theological consequences. For example, what is the difference when we remember that God’s love is based on the Father’s love for his Son and his subsequent desire to see the Son honored (John 5: 22-23). Therefore, we will not conclude from “God is love” that he easily ignores sin, as we will understand that the sin that has offended Christ himself is a wound to the heart of a loving God. God love his Sons and his wrath will be against sinners. Only when we read God’s love in this way can we not draw wrong conclusions by making sense of the context in which we interpret it.

9. Understand how the love of God helps us see his greatness.

Receiving God’s love in its own biblical context is not an exercise that attracts the attention of obscure systemic theologians. Perhaps it is easier to think “God is love” and fill those words with what we think of our human mind. Of course, rather than becoming a disciplined study of the revelation of God in the scriptures, the Spirit takes a little mental effort to produce our theology. After all, a God who is nothing but a projection of my mind will never be able to satisfy me. Worshiping such a god is tantamount to being locked in a room just for oneself, a kind of theological isolation, a terribly narcissistic solipsism, and finally a form of worship that is sort of worshiped in this way. There is no satisfaction along the way, only bitter disappointment. When we think of the essential self-determination of God that will bring peace to our souls, the rest is a discovery that is beyond our reach and which will never end in pleasure.

10. Really felt love of God always draws the response of love from us.

The contemplation of divine love never stops at its biblical perfection alone. Rest in our God never finds satisfaction in us, but always distances us from Him and from others. The love of God must be lived and studied. God’s love for us evokes love for him and for others. The word of true love that we have in the Bible, when we truly have it, will live in us and will never come back empty, for through the miracle of grace we see the immeasurable love of God that can be seen by them. other. in our life.
