Paul wanted to exalt Jesus in his life, and when it came to it in his death (Philippians 1:120). He then said, “To live is Christ, and death is gain.” (Philippians 1:21 KJV). The first part of that sentence has been covered. Let’s now look at the second part of this sentence.

Paul explained the situation in verse 23. He said that he wanted to leave and be with Christ, far better (Philippians 1:23 KJV). Paul understood that he had no reason to fear death. Paul referred to what we refer to as “spiritual Death,” which is living apart from God. Sin is what separates us from God. Romans 5:1 says that “eternal life” means to live in peace and fellowship with God through Jesus’s death (Romans 5). Only if one’s sins have been forgiven can it be possible.
